Perth is one of the most isolated cities in the world, but don't let that put you off! I have been lucky enough to visit Perth twice so far in my lifetime. My first visit was in 2012, to stay my friend and her family at her family home for 12 days. My second visit was in 2017, to stay with my friend and husband at her marital home and attend their wedding and I stayed for 7 days. I had the most wonderful time on both trips. I was treated like a member of the family and made to feel very welcome.

Fremantle

My first stop during my 2012 adventure was Fremantle. Fremantle is known as Perth's old town and has a very laid back, hippy vibe.

Visiting Nelson

The next stop was visiting the horse my friend was looking after at the time, a wonderful Thoroughbred horse called Nelson. This visit also gave me a glimpse into the countryside surrounding Perth. Here was my first sighting of the Corella birds.

Mullaloo Beach

Perth sits along the Indian Ocean and is home to some wonderful beaches. I visited a few in 2012. The first beach visit was to Mullaloo Beach. White sand and blue sean in abundance.

Burns Beach

Burns Beach is a picturesque, small and rocky beach with a great cafe called the Burns Beach Cafe. It was a lovely spot for a bit of quiet reading sunbathing.

Mindarie Keys

Mindarie is one of the upmarket neighbourhooods in Perth and has some very expensive real estate. There is a small waterfront area where I spotted some of the Australasian Darter birds and Pied Cormorant birds.

Busselton Jetty

The first stop on a tour I booked through Viator was Busselton Jetty. Our stop here was very brief with just enough time to take a quick look at the scenery.

Mammoth Cave

Next on the tour was a trip to Mammoth Cave. Mammoth Cave was home to interesting some fossils.

Wine Tasting at Margaret River

My first ever wine tasting experience was in Margaret River, Australia. Margaret River is an area known for it's small boutiques, craft breweries and wineries.

Cape Leeuwin

On the most Southern Westerly tip of Australia, where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet, stands Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.

Rottnest Island

Just a short ferry ride from Perth is the beautiful Rottnest Island, or 'Rotto' as the locals call it. We took a bike ride around Rottnest Island which was the best way to experience the beautiful scenery. We had a few stops along route at some of the beaches and to say hello to the very cute resident wildlife - the quokka's.

Rockingham Wild Encounters Dolphin Swim

The Rockingham Wild Encounters Dolphin Swim was a wonderful experience. It was the best way to see dolphins in their natural habitat.

The Pinnacles

The Pinnacles are limestone formations within Nambung National Park, near the town of Cervantes, Western Australia.

Yanchep National Park

Yanchep National Park is a beautiful park and is the best place near Perth to see the grey kangaroo and koala's.

Perth City and Kings Park Viewpoint

Perth has one of the best skylines in the world. One of the best places to view the skyline is just at Kings Park.

York

One of the last parts of my 2012 trip was the Wave Rock and Aboriginal Wildflowers Tour with Viator. The first stop on the tour was to the historic town of York.

Wave Rock

Wave Rock is an impressive granite cliff face in southwestern Australia that looks like a giant ocean wave.

Hippo's Yawn and Mulkas Cave

Hippo's Yawn and Mulkas Cave are rock formations near Wave Rock in Western Australia.

And now for the 2017 visit complete with a token cute koala sweatshirt!

Yanchep Lagoon Beach

I took a visit to the beautiful Yanchep Lagoon Beach during my 2017 adventure to Perth, Australia. The beach has a wonderful cafe which served a favourite of mine - the caramel slice!

Visiting Bailey

I got to meet and ride my friend's wonderful late Thouroughbred horse, Bailey, on my 2017 visit to Perth.

A Wedding in Australia

It was wonderful to attend my friend's wedding at Bridgeleigh in Perth. It was such a beautiful day with beautiful people.

I received this very cute koala teddy from my very good friend and her family at the end of my stay in 2012. I had the most wonderful time with them and was made to feel part of the family.

Until next time Perth!
