One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Grand Canyon is an unbelievable spectacle of nature. Vast, magnificent and inarguably beautiful, the Grand Canyon is easily Arizona's most distinguishable landmark. It is widely considered one of the finest examples of arid-land erosion in the world. Incised by the Colorado River, the canyon is immense, averaging 4,000 feet deep for its entire 277 miles. It is 6,000 feet deep at its deepest point and 18 miles at its widest. I have been lucky enough to see the Grand Canyon twice in my lifetime, once during a family holiday to Las Vegas 30 years ago, and again this year (May 2023) as a solo traveller.
Grand Canyon Western Ranch
Grand Canyon Western Ranch is a historical ranch dating back to the early 1900's, and was once owned by a notorious outlaw connected to the Hole in the Wall Gang. The ranch is the perfect place to get the all American cowboy experience. Just 15 minutes from the Grand Canyon's West Rim, the ranch is in the perfect location for exploring the Grand Canyon. I really enjoyed my stay at the Grand Canyon Western Ranch. The sunset horse ride to see the buffalo (or American bison) was the hightlight of my trip and was spectacular. I rode a beautiful Quarter horse called Utah. The American bison was named the national mammal of the United States on May 9, 2016. It was really special to see the buffalo for the first time in person. Another feature of the Grand Canyon Western Ranch which I particlarly loved was the bonfire. Every night at 8.30pm, guests would sit around the bonfire to be entertained by a cowboy! This turned out to be a great way of getting us guests to interact and make conversation with one another after dinner. I stayed at the Grand Canyon Western Ranch for 3 nights in one of the wooden cabins.

Past Visit to the Grand Canyon
As a family, we took a small plane trip over the Grand Canyon.
Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon - West Rim
Grand Canyon's West Rim, also known as Grand Canyon West, is the shining star of the Hualapai Indian reservation and home of the Grand Canyon Skywalk, along with two of the park’s most well-known landmarks—Eagle Point and Guano Point.

What I missed out on....
The Grand Canyon is so vast, 3 days was never enough to see everything I wanted to see. If I ever get to go to the Grand Canyon again, I would like to visit Hasavu Falls, the Grand Canyon South Rim, Williams, Bearizona Wildlife Park, and Under Canvas.
Hasavu Falls
Havasu Falls is a waterfall of the beautiful Havasu Creek, located in the Grand Canyon, Arizona, United States. It is within Havasupai tribal lands.

Grand Canyon - South Rim
The Grand Canyon South Rim is one of the canyon's most popular destinations. Located in the Kaibab National Forest, this area offers a different experience with every season.

Bearizona Wildlife Park
Bearizona Wildlife Park is a one-of-a-kind destination in Arizona. The park is home to a variety of animals, including bears, wolves, bison, and elk.

Williams
On Route 66 in Coconino County west of Flagstaff, Williams, Arizona, is known as the “Gateway to the Grand Canyon.”

Under Canvas
Set upon 160 acres of secluded piñon and juniper forest, Under Canvas Grand Canyon is located just 25 minutes from the South Rim entrance to Grand Canyon National Park. Named one of the ‘Best Resort Hotels in Arizona’ by Travel + Leisure and a ‘Top 15 Resort in the U.S. – Southwest’ by Condé Nast Traveler, Under Canvas Grand Canyon offers upscale accommodations near one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
